The Right Channel for Every Question

contractorsboard.org/ is an editorial directory. We cannot verify a license, file a complaint, hold a bond, or do anything board-side. This page explains exactly what we can help with, what we cannot, and where to send each kind of question.

🆘 Emergency? Do not email us — you need help now.

Life-threatening emergency (gas leak, fire, structural collapse, injury): call 911.

Suspected poisoning (carbon monoxide, chemical exposure): Poison Control 1-800-222-1222 (24/7, free).

Mental health crisis: 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text, 24/7, free).

What We Can Help With

  • Corrections to any board name, phone number, address, license-lookup URL, complaint-portal link, or guide detail on the site
  • Reports of broken license-lookup links — top-priority correction queue
  • Reports of board phone numbers that no longer answer or route correctly
  • Notification of a board moving its lookup tool or changing its complaint portal
  • State privacy-rights requests (CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CTDPA, CPA, UCPA, TDPSA, OCPA, etc.)
  • Cookie preferences and consent queries
  • Accessibility issues and reports of barriers using assistive technology
  • DMCA / copyright takedown notices under 17 U.S.C. §512
  • Press queries about the site, methodology, or editorial decisions
  • General feedback about a state guide

What We Cannot Help With

  • Verifying, issuing, renewing, suspending, or checking a license — use your state board’s official tool
  • Filing or resolving a complaint against a contractor — file with your state board
  • Holding a bond or paying a recovery/guaranty-fund claim — the board or fund administers these
  • Recommending or endorsing an individual contractor — we do not vet contractors
  • Reporting a job-site safety hazard — OSHA at osha.gov
  • Legal advice on a construction contract, lien, or dispute — consult an attorney in your state
  • Paid placement, “preferred listings,” or contractor leads — we do not accept these
